Firm Overview
Criminal Defense / DUI/DWI Attorney / Medical Malpractice / Personal Injury Lawyer
From his Springfield, Virginia law office, Mr. Hicks represents those charged with criminal offenses including DWI / DUI, domestic assault, shoplifting, drug offense, traffic violations and white collar crimes such as fraud. Victims of other people's negligence or carelessness in Virginia are provided with vigorous representation in their personal injury lawsuits, for injuries suffered in auto accidents and for those injured as a result of medical malpractice.
Mr. Hicks has not always been a solo practitioner. He began working in the field of criminal law while still in law school. He worked his way through law school as an Arlington County, VA police officer and later served as an Assistant Prosecutor for the Commonwealth of Virginia before going into private practice. Mr. Hicks' first job was as an Assistant to the City Attorney for Falls Church, Paul Terrance O'Grady, and as Mr. O'Grady's associate in his private practice. Mr. Hicks' primary assignment in his role as the assistant city attorney was the prosecution of criminal offenses in Falls Church. Even after going into a partnership of his own, Mr. Hicks remained the Falls Church City Prosecutor for an additional fifteen years. Mr. Hicks' first solo practice began in 1985, grew to a law practice with thirteen other lawyers, and ended in 2002 when he sold his interest in the firm and opened a solo practice once again. As he has for many years, Mr. Hicks continues to limit his practice to criminal law and personal injury.
Mr. Hicks decided to return to solo practice again because it enables him to manage his caseload better, now that he no longer has responsibility for so many other lawyers and support staff. He now has more time to devote to the role of "counsellor" to his clients, in an effort to help them better understand why they find themselves charged with crimes, or help them cope with the many problems that arise from automobile accidents or other kinds of accidents. People find it difficult to cope with so many of the issues that come up in both criminal cases and in accident/malpractice cases. Mr. Hicks has, for many years, devoted himself to his clients' well-being, and in turn, many of his thousands of former clients continue to refer cases to him long after their own case is over. Mr. Hicks believes that his job is to help people, in every way he can. Billy Ring Hicks is truly an Attorney and Counsellor at Law.
